ESR/NMR Basic Set (230 V 50/60 Hz) U188031-230

This basic equipment set is intended for investigating the electron spin resonance (ESR) of an unpaired electron of a DPPH sample, as well as, the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) of glycerin, Teflon®, and polystyrene. Resonances are observed via induced transitions through high-frequency pumping of an external magnetic field. Resonance absorption curves can be represented with a simple dual-channel oscilloscope or with the 3B NETlog™ unit.

ESR/NMR Basic Set includes:
• 1 Basic unit
• 1 Pair of coils
• 1 Control panel
• 1 Plug-in power supply, 12 V AC (115 or 230 V, 50/60 Hz)

The basic unit is a mechanical base for the ESR probe (U188501), the NMR probe (U189021), and the included coil pair. The included coil pair is used to generate the variable magnetic field for ESR and NMR studies, and the included control panel provides the voltage to control and power the ESR/NMR probes and coil pair. The control panel also processes the signal to be displayed on an oscilloscope and indicates the frequency of the pumping signal.

Experimental topics that can be studied with the unit include:
• Resonance absorption of a high-frequency oscillating circuit
• Dependence of resonance frequency on magnetic fields
• Resonant line widths
• Electron and proton spin
• Magnetic moment of atomic particles and nuclei
• Determination of nuclear g-factors
• Nuclear-spin tomography
